The Big "O"

Okay, this is weird and embarrassing, but I'm just going to throw it out there! Last night I woke up multiple times in the middle of a spontaneous orgasm. Like 4 or 5 times during the night! Not only was it uncomfortable each time (very crampy and tight feeling), I'm TERRIFIED it has somehow harmed my embryos, caused them to un-implant (don't know if that's a real term), or had some other bad effect since I'm only 4 days past transfer. I've called my RE, but as usual, they will take hours to call back. This never happens to me (sleeping OR awake, haha) so it's just weird. Especially having like 4 or 5 orgasms in one night...WTF? I can't WAIT to hear from the doctor's office. I hope they can offer me some reassurance.

When I was pregnant I had that happen to me all the time. I'd get myself 3-4 times a night for weeks and weeks. It's not unusual. I think it's all the estrogen in your system.

I don't think there is any medical reason to worry. I know they make you do bed-rest, pelvic rest , no lifting...but there is no medical evidence that it makes any difference. Just a precaution.

Of course, I would worry too...but when you are doing IVF you worry about everything.

Try not to worry too much. Besides, there is not much you can do about an involuntary orgasm.

I don't think you can do much to harm embryos. I really think your fine.

hahaha! That is so funny- I had to email you back! The SAME thing happened to me a few days after my ET for IVF#1! I was so freaked out by it and of course worried if it had hurt any chances of implanting, since the rule is no S-E-X for a week, and then that happened!! I actually googled it after it happened, and lots of people said it's normal after ET! Don't know what it's caused from, but I'm curious to see if it happens again to me during this next cycle. I am so glad to know it wasn't just me! haha- I'm still laughing several minutes after I read your post.
I just had to put it out of my mind and hope and pray that it didn't "do" anything to hurt my chances. There's nothing you could do about it now, so try not to think about it. Let me know what your dr.'s office says!!! ;) No more orgasms for you, missy! haha

Oh, another thing... I found this online and thought it was really helpful to kind of visualize what may be happening each day after ET.

this is what happens in a 5day transfer :

-1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing
0dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
1dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
2dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
3dpt.. Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
4dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
5dpt.. Morula is completely inmplanted in the lining and has placenta cells &
fetal cells
6dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
7dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
8dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
9dpt...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on
HPT

Can't say this has happened to me. Wish it would.HA HA HA.

I'm sure you're fine, but I'm glad you put a call in to the Doc.

Keep us posted.

Well...that's a side effect noone has warned me about... :)

Let us know what the doc has to say.

Stumbled across your blog somewhere... we have an empty yellow room too, and are starting FET #1.

Same thing happened to me after transfer. I didn't have the guts to ask my real RE, but Dr. Google said it was fine. Glad you had the guts to ask... I am sure women are just too embarrassed and it happens quite often.
